Tilicho Lake is one of the most popular side hikes of the Annapurna Circuit trek.
Tilicho Lake was the site of one of the highest ever altitude scuba dives. A Russian diving team,
consisting of Andrei Andryushin, Denis Bakin, and Maxim Gresko, conducted a scuba dive in
the lake in 2000.
Besides, being the lake situated at the highest altitude of the world, it has earned a specific name
in the Hindu religion too. Hindus believe that Tilicho Lake is the ancient Kak Bhusundi Lake
mentioned in the epic Ramayana. The sage Kak Bhusundi is believed to have first told the
happenings of Ramayana to Garuda - king of birds, near this lake. The sage took the form of a
crow while telling the story to Garuda. Crow translates to Kak in Sanskrit, hence the name Kak
Bhusundi for the sage.


Itinerary of the trek


Day 1
Arrival @ the heart of Nepal, Kathmandu
Kathmandu is one of the busiest cities of Nepal where this bunch of people and their diverse
culture fastened in one place. Along with that, it has the only available international Airport in
Nepal i.e. Tribhuvan International Airport.
You will be received by our representative at the airport and will drop you at the finest five-star
hotels in Kathmandu, The Dwarika Hotel.
At night, the tour manager along with the guide will join you at the dinner.


Day 2
Kathmandu Sightseeing
Kathmandu valley is such a unique place that it has seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites within
this small area, in 665 square kilometers.
Well, today we will go to witness some of the best cultural and architectural beauty of Nepal.
After breakfast, we will go sightseeing at Basantapur Durbar square, which was once used to be
the Royal Palace of Malla Kings and then of the Shah’s.
Thereafter, we will move forward to Patan Durbar Square, which is best known for its most
artistic architecture in Kathmandu Valley. There, we will have our lunch as well, which after we
will continue our sightseeing at the golden temple of patan.Then, we will come back to the hotel. If you want to explore more about this ancient city and not
a type of person, spending time at the hotel, then you can go and roam around the Pashupatinath
temple.
Pasupatinath is the most privileged temple of Nepal where you can witness the evening aarati
and then come back to the hotel.

Day 3
Kathmandu to Pokhara and Besi Sahar(760m)
A flight to Pokhara and then drive
Our day and the trek begins from here. Early in the morning after having breakfast, we would
head toward, Tribhuvan International Airport for the flight to Pokhara.
It would be a half-hour flight. Which after we would be on the land of Annapurna. After having
lunch, we would then move toward Besi Sahar with a bus ride.
That approximately would take 5 hours of time.
Besi Sahar is the first stopover of our trek. There are already many hotels and tea houses over
there for your welcome. It is a small beautiful village.

Day 4
Besi Sahar(760m) to Nadi Bazaar(930m
3 hours of walk
Nadi Bazaar is also a small village like the Besi Sahar. The Nadi means a river in the Nepalese
language. Just like the name, it lies on the shore of one of the popular river of Nepal.
Along with the sun rising, our journey toward, this beautiful and fa potential village, filled with
panoramic views of the Himalayas starts. You can either take a local bus or walk for more than 3
hours.
Before reaching there, you would be passing through Khundi and Bhulbule and one suspension
bridge.

Nadi Bazaar(930m) to Jagat(1,300m)
6-7 hours of walk
The very next morning would lead us to an average long trek of our trekking. Through the lush
green forest and chirpings of birds, our journey would break at Jagat.
Jagat is a traditional-style small town in the Lamjung District of North-Central Nepal which lies
is in the Gandaki zone.

Day 6
Jagat(1,300m) to Dharapani(1,860m)
7 hours of walk
After breakfast, we would start our trek.
On the way, you could encounter the rich valley terrain with the Marsyangdi river and distinct
waterfalls. The sound sounds of the waterfalls and cool wind, it is the best feeling that one can
experience while trekking.
We would be then stopping at Dharapani.

Day 7
Dharapani(1,860m) to Chame(2,670m)
5 hours of walk
A walk from Dharapani to Chame is not that tough as the previous days. While it also continues
with the same kind of lavishing views of greenery, valleys, and waterfalls.
Besides, you would be passing through dar, Ti many Thanchwok, the capital of Manang.
The night would be spent at Chame.


Day 8
Chame(2,670m) to Upper Pisang(3,300m)5-6 hours of walk
Upper Pisang is one beautiful; village situated on the landmark of Annapurna II, III, and IV
along with the Pisang peak. Besides there are several Gompas, Tibetan, and Buddhist vibes
adjoin you over here.
So, be ready for that.
The tiring trek of our would stop at Upper Pisang from Chame.
A journey from one capital to another.


Day 9
Upper Pisang(3,300m) to Manang(3,540m)
7-8 hours of walk
Although the day would be quite tiring and you might get some cold punches of icy wind, yet
you would be impatient to complete the trek. Cause you would be in the heaven of Nepal, most
popularly known as the kingdom behind the Himalayas.
Yes, today, we would be trekking toward Manang, the desert-like village but is awesomely
beautiful.
The trek would be more interesting because it would give you a perfect chance to exploit your
hidden talent of Photography as well. The pristine faces of Annapurna II, III, and IV, wouldn’t
be amazing to share a photo with them.
Well, yes. And here we would be spending our night as well.

Day 10
Acclimation day
One acclimation on high altitude trek is a must. It helps you to adjust and accumulate the existing
environment. So that, your chances of altitude sickness become less and less.
Besides, it would be a great opportunity to explore this beautiful village- manang. You can hike
up to Gangapurna lake and Prake Gompa to make yourself busy and engaged in the trek.Night stay at Manang.
Day 11
Manang(3,540m) to sheer Kharka(4210m)
4-5 hours of walk
With the sun rises and spectacular views of the Himalayas, the journey toward Tilicho starts.
You would be climbing a little more.

Day 12
Sheer Kharka(4210m) to Tilicho Base Camp(4,150m)
4-5 hours of walk
To reach Tilicho Base camp, you need to walk for 4-5 hours. Well, it depends upon your walking
speed. The early you reach, the more you get to take a rest.
Night stay at Base camp.


Day 13
Tilicho base camp(4,150m)-Tilicho lake(5,210m)-sheer Kharka(4210m)
8-9 hours of walk
Early in the morning, before the sunrise, @4:30, we would be starting our walk. It’s always
better to leave early on a dark morning. So that, you could get your expected version of the view
of Tilicho Lake (5,210m).
It would approximately take 4 hours to reach there so to return. Thus it would really be going to
be a long walking day and collapsing as well. But, the happiness of reaching the world’s highest
lake would be far worth than all your hard work and deeds.
Thus, we would then stay at Sheer Kharkha.
 

Day 14
Sheer Kharka(4210m) to Manang(3,540m)
4-5 hours of walk
We would be returning from the same route which we use before. Thus, it would quite a familiar
environment to walk back.And, here we spend our third night at Manang.
Night stay at Manang.

Day 15
Manang(3,540m) to Besi Sahar(760)
Enjoy a ride throughout the day
Well, till this date, you might get all exhausted with the cool wind and walking. So, today we
would announce, “No more walking” and continue our limited journey on the bus.
We would be spending all our day in our private vehicle. Well, we would stop for lunch. Don’t
worry about it.
And, we would then reach Besi Sahar after this long journey.

Day 16
Besi Sahar(760) to Pokhara and then fly back to Kathmandu
As our arrival arrangement, we would be returning via bus to Pokhara and then fly back to
Kathmandu this day.
Coming back to the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu.

Day 17
Departure
It’s time to say goodbye to Nepal, the day of your departure.
After breakfast, our tour manager would check you out from the hotel and transfer you to the
Tribhuvan International Airport.
