Arun Valley to Everest Base Camp trek

 About the trek
Gokyo Valley, as its freakish moniker, has more infinite characteristics to be explored. Being a part of the
Everest region, many travelers perceive it as a beautiful trekking trail and a perfect stopover to scrutinize
the troika lakes, i.e., Gokyo lakes. Besides, the Gokyo Ri, as the prime attraction of the trek and the guardian
of the Golyo valley welcomes you warmly in its cold arms.
The trek as in the Everest Base camp starts from the fractionable flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. From
where we will start our walk up to Gokyo valley via Namche Bazaar.
This trek perfectly suits those nature admirers who want their paths less crowded as well as those who want
to enjoy both the giant Himalayan scenery and the jungles of colorful rhododendron. The trek is the best
alternative for the Everest Base Camp trek since it is quite easier and short than the EBC trek.
The trek not only satisfies you with the awe-inspiring views of great mountains but also serves you the best
valley trek of the Khumbu region with the magnanimous views of the longest glacier of the Himalayas,
Ngozumpa Glacier.
The trek is favored more because of the glimpse that it provides during the trek. It undoubtedly fixes your
glimpse-like meeting with the northwest face of Everest (8,848.86m), then Mount Cho-Oyu (8,201m), Mt
Lhotse (8,501), Mt Makalu (8,463m), and many miniature peaks.
Undergoing with Sherpa culture and tradition
Pass unusual suspension bridges and colorful forests of Rhododendron
An awe-inspiring view of Mount Everest and other Himalayan range
Witness the longest glacier of the Nepalese Himalayan, Ngozumpa Glacier

Night stay @Dwarika hotel
Day 3
Kathmandu to Lukla (2,860m) and then Monjo (2,835)
4-5 hours of walk
On the very first day of the Gokyo valley trek, we will be taking the early flight to Lukla from
Kathmandu. Trust me, it would be the most exhilarating flight of your life. Cause, it has never had a
smooth flight. So, we would be getting ready to land on one of the shortest runways in the world on
our very first day of the trek.
From here, the adventure begins...
At Lukla, we would have our breakfast and start walking, passing the small villages named
Cheplung and Pakding then the suspension bridges too, which belatedly settle us at the first stop of
our trek, at Monjo village.
Night stay at Monjo Village-Teahouse
Day 4
Monjo to Namche bazaar(3,440m)
5 hours of walk
From Monjo, we would start our walk towards Namche Bazaar, the gateway town to the
Himalayas.
Namche Bazaar often called Nemche Bazaar or Namche Baza is a petite as well as a popular town
situated in the Khumbu region where one can get the best hotels and facilities like banking,
shopping, and expedition gears also.
Night stay at Namche Bazaar-Lodge
Day 5
Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar(3,440m)
Never, ever underestimate the acclimatization day, even if you are feeling well. Acclimatization
will help you to adapt to the ascending altitude as well as give a free day to hike nearby places of
Namche Bazaar.Every Saturday, one temporary market is set up in this height which is called Haatbazaar in the
Nepalese language. You get a chance to watch that if we reach Namche on Friday. Besides, you can
do a short trek up to Chhorkung above Namche, or you could walk to the short runway at
Syangboche to utilize your acclimatization day.
Night Stay at Namche Bazaar-Lodge
Other attractions of Namche Bazaar:
The Kunde Hillary Hospital
Sagarmatha Visitors center and Sherpa Culture Museum
Day 6
Namche Bazaar(3,440m) to Dole(4,038m)
5-6 hours of walk
Waking up early in the morning, in front of the highest peaks in the world.
Wow, now that is what we call a good morning!
A morning tea and breakfast at Namche bazaar would announce our further trek to dole. From the
narrow streets to the wide flat path, a series of steep staircases (which seems almost climbing to the
sky), frozen waterfalls ( if you travel during March/April), trails touching rivers, these all come
along in your way on this single day.
What more to expect?
The bunch of the Himalayan panoramas? Well, this thing, you could not avoid during your whole
trek cause it sticks with you as if you are one among them.
Well, we would be having our lunch at Mong village and night stay at Dole. Dole is a small village
that particularly is special for the night stopovers for travelers.
Day 7
Dole (4,038m) to Machherma(4,410m)
3-4 hours of walk
This day is much easier than the previous day.
Waking up in between the hills and mountains surprisingly gives you inner happiness. Well, after
breakfast at Dole, we would be having a very straightforward route until we reach Machhermo.Machhermo is like the Dole village, the summer settlements of sherpas. Plus, it is one stopover for
the Gokyo travelers where we would spend our night too. If you plan your trek @here during
summer, then you could witness the greenery and grazing yaks under these white-capped stones.
It is no good to move fast at high altitude. That’s why we would take a half-day of acclimatization.
Night stay at Machhermo.
Day 8
Machhermo(4,410m) to Gokyo(4,750m)
4 hours of walk
This would be the day when we would finally reach our destination, The Gokyo.
Today, we would be starting our walk from Machhermo after breakfast and walking for
approximately 3-4 hours. We would reach there in no time, through passing the riverbanks.
As you walk the path of the elevation, it starts to lead you to the first lake of Gokyo, Longpongo. In
the same sequence, the second lake, Taboche Tsho, and the third lake wait for you beside the
shining sunshine.
The Gokyo valley stands on the shore of the third lake with Cho Oyu overshadowing magnificently
in the backdrop.
Night stay at Gokyo.
Day 9
Excursion to Gokyo Ri (5,357m) and back to Gokyo Valley (4,800m)
4 hours of walk
This day marks the major highlights of the entire trek. On this day, we will be hiking to the vantage point of
Gokyo Ri (5,357m). The climb to the viewpoint might be strenuous and take 3 to 4 hours to reach the lid.
Yet, it seems worthy since you could relish the panoramic spectacles of mountains like Everest, Nuptse,
Thamserku, Makalu, Lhotse, and Pumori.
With that, the exhilarating views of turquoise Gokyo lakes and the longest glacier of Nepalese
Himalayas, Ngozumpa Glacier would definitely surpass your expectations. And, this one wonderful day
ends here while retracing the route back to Gokyo Valley.
Night stay at Gokyo Valley.Day 10
Trek from Gokyo Valley (4,800m) to Machhermo(3,680m)
4-5 hours of walk
Today, we would be returning through the same route as we ascended before.
After the warm breakfast at Gokyo Valley, we will move forward to reach Machhermo. During the
trek, you’ll proceed across several stones, Chorten, and the splendid views of Thamserku and
Kangtega; they, as usual, will accompany you on the way down from Gokyo Valley.
Night stay at Machhermo.
Day 11
Machhermo(3,680m) to Phortse (3,840m)
5-6 hours of walk
Phortse is an authentic small sherpa village. Though it is small and there are very few rumors and
information about this village, most of the trekkers who often stay there never forget to mention
this village. It simply is a beautiful farming settlement of sherpas’.
From early morning, we would walk to reach such a beautiful village following the same reverse
route.
Night stay at Phortse.
Day 12
Phortse to Namche Bazaar
5-6 hours of walk
With the near end of the trek, we would once again, meet the same alleys of Namche Bazaar and the
people. With a new day, our trek will continue to reach out to one of our old destinations, Namche
bazaar.
The scenery, leaving behind the jungles and mountain views might not feel so good, yet we need to
continue.
Once we reach Namche Bazaar, we would rest there for the rest of our time of the day.
Night stay at Namche Bazaar.
Day 13
Namche Bazaar to Monjo5-6 hours of walk
As in the ascending trek, we would again choose to stay at Monjo before moving to Lukla for our
last night stay at the lap of these cold Himalayas.
Night stay at Monjo.
Day 14
Monjo to Lukla
5 hours of walk
This day, after breakfast, we would move toward Lukla, one small town of the Solukhumbu region.
Although Lukla means the place with many goats and sheep, only a few could be seen in the area
nowadays.
Night stay at Lukla.
Day 15
Fly back to Kathmandu
On day 15, we would be returning to Kathmandu with the available first flight from Lukla. So that
we could enjoy those glimpses of the Himalayas even while returning.
After reaching Kathmandu, you would have the rest of the day to enjoy your kinda stuff like
shopping. If you do not feel like moving anywhere, then you could simply rest the rest of the day.
But, we would be having a good-bye dinner with all the team members at night.
Night Stay at Kathmandu.
Day 16
Departure
It’s time to say goodbye to Nepal, the day of your departure.
After breakfast, our tour manager would check you out from the hotel and transfer to the Tribhuvan
International Airport.Tips
No matter what and when would you travel to the Everest region, you wouldn't regret it. Yet, if you
are a beginner in the field of trekking, then it would be better to do some easy and moderate type of
trek before Everest. It would be helpful for you to fight with the risk like high altitude Sickness.
With that, don’t forget to bring a professional guide with you, if you really wanna explore the ever
legendary Everest in all aspects.
